Cyrus Mayer

Cyrus Mayer is from the occupied territories of the Lisjan Ohlone People in the land of Huchiun, known to many of us today as Oakland, CA. His father is of Persian decent and his mother is Ashkanze Jew by way of Eastern Europe and Russia.

Cyrus is a water protector and land defender dedicated to upholding the teachings of his elders and mentors in service to the Mother Earth and the Future Generations. Many of these teachers in his life have dedicated their lives to the struggle and liberation of Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities from the systems of racism and colonization. In respects to these teachings, Cyrus works at the cross roads of social justice, agro-ecology, healing, and land justice.  His current profession is as a land worker and garden director in Matilija Canyon, Ca where he cares for an 11 acre parcel of land in the Los Padres National Forest and is actively studying Tibetan Medicine and Applied Yoga Therapy. Cyrus is passionate about tending the wild and the sourcing of food and medicines from our local ecosystems.

Cyrus has been working with Back to Earth since 2018 and is a certified Wilderness First Responder.
